The Organize Florida Education Fund is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that both trains and develops leaders and organizes families in low-to moderate-income communities in Florida. Our vision is for these communities to become critically engaged in the political system in order to create a more just and equitable society.

Opportunity

The Organize Florida internship program is a pilot three-month organizing internship to deepen the organizing skills of our more campaign-experienced members, so they can transfer these organizing skills into building and maintaining power in their communities everyday.

Interns are responsible for engaging and recruiting monolingual Spanish speakers to take action and vote around their top priorities. Interns will develop weekly community rights workshops, will create a strong personal network for the program, and will inspire others into activating and mobilizing other participants into taking collective action in their community or the ballot box.

Primary Responsibilities

Phone calls to already identified members or allies, record-keeping, data entering, mobilizations, helping to plan and lead parts of meetings, make presentations, and develop materials in Spanish. We will safely engage in street actions and will follow CDC guidelines by wearing masks, maintaining a safe and strict social distance, and use hand sanitizers and gloves.


Mentoring Sessions

Once a week for a full morning session, interns will be mentored on various topics not directly related to the everyday campaign skills and may include guest sessions with various Directors in Organize Florida or allied organizations.

Job Requirements

Must be fluent in Spanish, valid driver's license, working phone, basic computer skills, and able to work night and weekends.

Opportunity

Organize Florida and Organize Florida Education Fund seek a highly motivated, talented, and dynamic individual to serve as the Constituency State Lead. We will engage, persuade, mobilize, and turnout Black, Latinx, and Women voters as part of its 2020 Engagement program. A team of diverse Constituency Organizers will build relationships with community leaders and activist groups throughout Florida to continue to grow our grassroots infrastructure and launch digital organizing efforts in targeted districts. The state lead will help coordinate and implement plans for the 2020 election cycle.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement time specific work plans for priority issues that involve engaging residents and community organizations

  • Organize and conduct (door-to-door may change), online and phone outreach to build the base needed and identify local leaders

  • Build networks of women voters between the ages of 18-34  across the state of Florida

  •  Engage 52,000 women across the state of Florida

  • Conduct touchpoints (Census, VR, GOTV, VBM) with feminist lens

  •  Work with regional leads to draft and deliver messaging specifically for women voters between ages of 18-34

  • Lead state-wide campaigns for the priority issues

  •  Implement political education tools that further our vision of a feminist economy

  • Ensure communications team is identifying constituents and preparing them for public speaking opportunities

  •  Ensure coordination of logistics for public events and large-scale mobilizations

  •  Connect organizing work with current research, public policies, and political activities at the local and state levels

  • Advocate for priority issues in public and private interactions in the community and with partners

  •  Craft and send regular email messages to women’s constituency group

  •  Host meetings to coordinate between the women’s constituency coalition and the Florida For All teams

  •  Ensure preparation and launching of online campaigns via appropriate technologies

  • Serve as a public speaker for the women’s constituency at meetings and other public events

  •  Respond, in a timely manner, to inquiries via phone, email or other 

  •  Identify and coordinate activities between the  women’s constituency and like-minded community-based organizations and recruit organizations to join the women’s constituency coalition in support of Florida For All’s mission and priority issues

  •  Serve as liaison between the women’s constituency and various community organizations and stakeholders involved in social and economic justice organizing activities

  • Meet with elected officials and stakeholders, regularly

  • Attend community events and meetings as the representative from the women’s constituency

  • Work with local leads to coordinate community events and meetings to provide educational materials and conduct presentations about our priority areas to constituents

  • Provide regular and timely updates on priority issues and campaigns

  • Make reports to organizational leadership, as needed

  • Support the operations team in processing and tracking expenses and revenue

  • Develop and implement time-specific work plans

Opportunity

Organize Florida seeks a highly motivated, talented, and dynamic individual to serve as the Campaigns Director. Reporting to the Vice President of Campaigns, the Campaigns Director is responsible for providing thought leadership for ongoing campaign work; working closely with field organizing teams and members to strengthen, align, and coordinate ongoing issue campaigns and platforms; and developing strategic communications on current campaigns. They will work closely with the organizations Regional Directors to reach all campaign goals. This is a full-time salaried position that will also serve on the organizations Core Leadership Team (CLT).

Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop strategic campaign plans for local and state campaigns that promote the vision and mission of the organization;
  • Collaborate with all regional organizing teams and member leaders to reach all campaign goals;
  • Implement creative and innovative strategies that move state and local campaigns forward including using strategic communications;
  • Build relationships with local partners as they relate to specific campaign plans;
  • Attend coalition meetings, calls and conferences as they relate to specific campaign plans or political strategy of organization;

Organize Florida and Organize Florida Education Fund seek a highly motivated, talented, and dynamic individual to serve as the Electoral Manager. The Electoral Manager, is responsible for developing leadership, political and engagement programs for community members, organizational members and all levels of staff. This position requires frequent travel across the service area, occasional travel to other parts of the state and a flexible schedule including nights and weekends to meet the needs of the community and volunteers.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of strategies to carry out local electoral campaign, building a large activist, volunteer and coalition partner network, with a focus on distributed organizing tactics
  • Responsible for building, training and facilitating local distributed and remote volunteer teams
  • Responsible for executing work plans to meet goals and objectives, measures progress using defined metrics.
  • Responsible for meeting campaign metrics as specified by the Organizing Director.
  • Responsible for attending weekly check-in calls with full campaign team
  • Responsible for executing and implementing voter contact programs implementing and utilizing cutting edge programs including voter file management, micro-targeting, voter ID programs, phone programs, door to door programs, and integrated social media.
  • Incorporates new and current organizing tactics, providing leadership and direction for volunteers and coalition partners.
  • Responsible for cultivating a broad range of important coalition and grassroot contacts and engages them in the Florida For All/Win Justice electoral campaign.
  • Tracking volunteer and voter contact utilizing the Voter Action Network (VAN)
  • Excellent research, editing, presentation, analytical and writing skills, in multiple lengths and formats and to multiple audiences.
  • Commitment to inter- and intra-agency teamwork.
  • Energetic, creative, and able to function productively and effectively with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Must be able to travel within the entire service area.

Opportunity

Organize Florida seeks a highly motivated, talented and dynamic individual to serve as a Disaster Resilience Coordinator. They will be responsible for building a strong base of Neighborhood Captains to build power, create and format disaster preparedness hubs in their assigned neighborhoods/communities. This role requires an individual with a deep passion for building leadership from impacted communities, strong event planning, execution skills and an interest in translating community needs into policy solutions. Additionally, this role will represent Organize Florida at various climate resilience and climate justice coalitions and tables.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Represent Organize Florida in a professional manner to the community;
  • Support the development and implementation of the Disaster Resiliency Initiative (DRI);
  • Build out a base of low to moderate income and people of color residents as Neighborhood Captains;
  • Assist in identifying and developing leadership among Neighborhood Captains and Organize Florida members;
  • Work with the Sr. Lead Organizer and/or the Regional Director to develop strategies and a vision to win policy solutions to address community needs;
  • Participate in, conduct and lead forums as a part of Disaster Resiliency plan;
  • Work with allies and partners to plan and execute a large scale community disaster preparedness event to identify needs of impacted communities and engage directly with elected officials and government staff to identify solutions;
  • Continuously update and maintain data related to membership, trainings and campaigns;
  • Support civic engagement work;
  • Work with Organize Florida partners for joint actions, trainings, campaigns as needed;
  • Prepare and submit regular and ad hoc reports;
  • Any other duties assigned in scope of position and work duties.
Job Requirements
  • Commitment and passion for social, racial and gender justice;
  • 2 years of experience in community, labor, or grassroots organizing;
  • Understanding of issues facing low income and minority communities;
  • Comfort with the implementation of a range of organizing strategies and tactics;
