OPPORTUNITY

Organize Florida and Organize Florida Education Fund seek a highly motivated, talented, and dynamic individual to serve as the Regional Director, Central Florida. The Regional Director, Central Florida is responsible for engaging members in political and issue based campaigns and overseeing ongoing issue campaigns for the organizations, including the Fight for 15 and Climate Change work, Standing With Women & Families among others. They will ensure the achievement of short and long term goals for the organization, both programmatically and financially. This position also serves on the organizations Core Leadership Team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop strategic campaign plan for local and state campaigns that promote the vision and mission of the organization;
  • Develop and implement comprehensive plan for membership recruitment, engagement, and leadership development of members;
  • Manage and motivate the team of organizers for the issue-based campaigns;
  • Collaborate with the Sr. Vice President of Operations and Executive Director & Co-Founder to ensure programmatic and campaign goals are being met;
  • Work with Political & Civic Engagement Director to build relationships with local partners as they relate to specific campaign plans;
  • Provide supervision and management to organizers, volunteers and campaign partners.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

We are seeking a seasoned social justice leader with strong references who is interested in growing the organization into a credible powerhouse organization in the Central Florida area. A successful candidate must believe in the core values of Organize Florida and be driven by its mission. The ideal candidate should have at least 3-5 years of organizing experience, experience organizing in coalition with grassroots, political and labor allies, strong writing skills, and experience in fundraising. Candidates should also have:

  • Experience leading organizing campaigns with state or local significance;
  • Understanding of issues facing low income communities, minority communities, women, LGBTQ communities, low-wage workers, immigrant communities, and other impacted communities;

Primary Responsibilities

  • Online Organizing: Draft, proof, and send campaign emails, including maintaining a comprehensive email calendar; create content to meet metrics set forth by the coordinated effort; develop materials for and facilitate communication with allied organizations to expand reach and strengthen membership; post regular updates to campaign social media.
  • Social Media Engagement: Support Organize Florida’s social media by monitoring the performance of each account; coordinate with other staff as appropriate to ensure regular content updates; implement strategies for increasing engagement of both members and activists.
  • Contact Management: Manage email list and updates, and other automated communications and data management systems to track and maximize engagement of activists and dues paying members.
  • Writing and Communications: Draft and edit digital content, Facebook and Twitter posts, member emails, and online appeals; work with other staff to develop rich and engaging content that helps tell the story of our work and our campaigns in creative and compelling ways using online media.

The Electoral Manager, is responsible for developing leadership, political and engagement programs for community members, organizational members and all levels of staff. Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of strategies to carry out local electoral campaign, building a large activist, volunteer and coalition partner network, with a focus on distributed organizing tactics

The primary role of this position is to support the Operations and Administration Director with calendaring/scheduling, event logistics, supplies and maintenance requests, managing the welcome center and other duties as assigned.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage the Welcome Center; greet visitors, staff, City Officials, volunteers, members and special guests in a professional manner, while answering incoming calls and assume other receptionist duties.
  • Support Operations and Administration Director with calendaring/scheduling, supply, inventory, maintenance, equipment requests and provide status updates.
  • Assist Operations and Administration Director with planning and implementation of all logistical needs for internal and external events.
  • Coordinate with other operations staff on events logistics in their regions and assist when needed.

Key Qualifications

Opportunity

Organize Florida seeks a highly motivated, talented and dynamic individual to serve as a Disaster Resilience Coordinator. They will be responsible for building a strong base of Neighborhood Captains to build power, create and format disaster preparedness hubs in their assigned neighborhoods/communities. This role requires an individual with a deep passion for building leadership from impacted communities, strong event planning, execution skills and an interest in translating community needs into policy solutions. Additionally, this role will represent Organize Florida at various climate resilience and climate justice coalitions and tables.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Represent Organize Florida in a professional manner to the community;
  • Support the development and implementation of the Disaster Resiliency Initiative (DRI);
  • Build out a base of low to moderate income and people of color residents as Neighborhood Captains;
  • Assist in identifying and developing leadership among Neighborhood Captains and Organize Florida members;
  • Work with the Sr. Lead Organizer and/or the Regional Director to develop strategies and a vision to win policy solutions to address community needs;
  • Participate in, conduct and lead forums as a part of Disaster Resiliency plan;
  • Work with allies and partners to plan and execute a large scale community disaster preparedness event to identify needs of impacted communities and engage directly with elected officials and government staff to identify solutions;
  • Continuously update and maintain data related to membership, trainings and campaigns;
  • Support civic engagement work;
  • Work with Organize Florida partners for joint actions, trainings, campaigns as needed;
  • Prepare and submit regular and ad hoc reports;
  • Any other duties assigned in scope of position and work duties.

Job Requirements

  • Commitment and passion for social, racial and gender justice;
  • 2 years of experience in community, labor, or grassroots organizing;
  • Understanding of issues facing low income and minority communities;
  • Comfort with the implementation of a range of organizing strategies and tactics;
  • Willingness to work on local issue campaigns along with contributing to possible statewide and national campaigns.
  • Self-motivated – proven ability to work independently
  • Ability to be a team player and work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Dedication and ability to work flexible hours
